Bookkeeper
Position Title: Bookkeeper
Department: Accounting & Finance
Supervisor: Finance Director/ Manager
Employment Status: Full-time Position
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage: $25-$30 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to Finance Director/ Manager, the Bookkeeper will assist with financial activities of the Gwa’sala-Nakwaxda’xw Nation (GNN) Accounting and Finance department and will:
• Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
• Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports
• Bank reconciliations as requested by manager
• Ensure all credit card invoices are in the system and reconcile to general ledger
• Responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Receivable process
• Responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Payable process
• Responsible for generating P. O’s, invoices etc. on Xyntax
• Other Duties as assigned by the supervisor
Knowledge and Skills and Abilities
• Good communication skills, problem solving and teamwork skills.
• Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information
• Post-secondary education in bookkeeping preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting functions and requirements preferred
• Ability to adapt, undertake multiple tasks and respond to changing priorities is imperative.
• Possess computer skills, proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) is an asset.
• Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
· Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
· Post-secondary education in accounting, or related field and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
· Demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting functions and requirements.
Working Conditions:
The office is open from 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility needed for travel as well availability for meetings or business afterhours and weekends.
