As an
Accounting Clerk for our Rental Property Management division based in Edmonton, you will perform the full cycle duties for a busy rental portfolio. With the help of a very experienced accounting management team, you will handle all the duties in your portfolio including rent processing, move in/out paperwork and refunds, management fee payments, monthly owner payments, weekly cheque runs and monthly bank reconciliations.
You will be working with Property Managers across the province and expect to participate in weekly POD meetings.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Perform all aspects of accounting related to our rental division, inclusive of A/R, A/P, monthly owner statements and owner payments
- Proficient preparation of bank reconciliations
- Preparation and posting of monthly journal entries and accruals
- Ensuring annual budgets are input
- Liaise with various internal departments and offer "consistent and effective service" to both internal and external clients
- Adherence to all RECA requirements in connection with "trust" accounting
- Prepare Non-Resident and other government financial and taxation reporting
Requirements
- At least 2 years working in property management with rental properties preferred
- A solid understanding of the Property Management industry would be a strong asset
- Attention to detail, able to perform complete a high volume of work quickly and accurately
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Strong computer skills, including Excel
- Demonstrated a solid understanding of full-cycle accounting including use of subledgers and general ledgers, chart of account navigation, and financial reporting
