Boundary Electric is looking for a Controller to join our team in beautiful Grand Forks, B.C.!!
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities within the company. This role requires a hands-on individual with a strong background in managerial accounting and financial management, particularly in a growth-oriented environment. The Controller will supervise finance and purchasing staff, and oversee IT operations, playing a key role in supporting the company’s growth by providing financial insights, ensuring compliance, and optimizing financial processes.
Key Functions:
o Direct all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting.
o Supervise and mentor finance and purchasing staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
o Oversee IT operations, ensuring the integration and alignment of financial systems with overall business objectives.
o Analyze financial results with respect to profitability, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets.
o Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
o Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
o Develop and maintain relationships with lending and financial institutions.
o Establish and maintain accounting policies and systems, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
o Assist senior management in financial planning and results management.
o Oversee the preparation and submission of financial statements and reports.
o Ensure accurate and timely financial data for decision-making purposes.
o Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
o Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of budget templates and the consolidation of departmental budgets.
o Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
o Manage cash flow and working capital to ensure the company has sufficient liquidity to meet its obligations.
o Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.
o Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
o Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company’s financial practices remain compliant and competitive.
o Lead special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· CPA designation.
· 3-7 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience, preferably in a rapidly growing start-up or private company.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
· Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
· Excellent leadership and team management skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Able to work full time.
