Position Summary
The HRIS / Payroll Analyst will manage the day-to-day Ceridian Dayforce Human Resources Information System (DF HRIS), support the execution of annual activities, provide configuration and testing assistance related to DF HRIS enhancements and implementations. Additionally, the HRIS / Payroll Analyst will support the Payroll Manager in running bi-weekly payroll and the role will focus on the execution of HR system administration activities, including processing activities, reviewing existing system configuration settings such as notifications and leveraging reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Dayforce HRIS:
- Address HRIS system-related questions through troubleshooting, configuration and design of business processes, workflow, security, and report modifications
- Effectively collaborate with teams such as HR, Talent, Recruiting, Technology, Finance, and others to provide support for requests such as enhancements, defects, and new functionality
- Conduct needs assessment, performs GAP analysis on DF HRIS, leads business process modeling and helps the business develop “to-be” business processes
- Engage external vendors to troubleshoot configuration requirements, as needed
- Support the HR team with annual cycle system administration tasks Examples: Employee Engagement Surveys, Performance Reviews, Compensation process, Learning Management Systems
- Conduct regular analysis to ensure data accuracy, including the use of Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, leveraging reports for data reconciliation efforts and random spot-checks of HR data
- Document and maintain DF HRIS and business user guides
- Provide training and support for DF HRIS
- Look for efficiency gains in our processes and partner with team members to prioritize
- Provide support for the input of daily transactions into our HR systems as required
- Develop, create, and maintain a variety of reports
Payroll:
- Document all processes including but not limited to bi-weekly processing, change management and monthly/annual reporting, ensuring all processes are in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements. Recommend process enhancements for compliance, efficiency and to streamline operations to Manager. For approved changes: develop an implementation plan and execute changes as per implementation schedule.
- Create reports from a combination of Dayforce and excel to support the monitoring of payroll for compliance, support third-party reporting, and provide reports required by various other stakeholders.
- Provide oversight on the payroll processing of benefits/retirement program by ensuring that payroll entries are based on correct rates as set out in our benefits contracts and selected by employees through their enrollment forms.
- Process bi-weekly, monthly, and annual payments per agreed upon schedules to all regulatory agencies, government agencies and benefits providers.
- Process year-end reporting including filing and distribution of tax statements, reconciliation of statutory withholdings, preparation of various reports/forms/annual returns required from federal and provincial government departments (workers compensation board, ministry of finance).
- Secondary liaison with HR departments on benefit and retirement matters, ensuring all payroll related matters are processed in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.
- Secondary liaison with Finance departments, providing Payroll GL reports, and assisting in the reconciliation of, payroll clearing and benefits clearing accounts for month end.
- Complete work required to support statutory and regulatory auditors' requests.
- In support of the routine processing, provide back-up for the bi-weekly preparation and processing of payroll for salaried and hourly employees in a timely and accurate fashion, in accordance with set payroll schedule and timelines.
- During routine processing: review all transactions initiated by HR, by comparing the source documents to the entries in the HRIS system, ensuring the correct Dayforce “policy” table has been applied for the proposed changes. Input additional payroll related information as required e.g. new hires, leaves of absences, transfers, salary adjustments, terminations.
- Maintain a good understanding of relevant legislation, following government regulations, by reviewing any employment standards and taxation rules that may be applicable.
Qualifications for the ideal candidate:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in Business, Human Resources, Information Technology or other relevant area of study.
- Minimum 3 years Ceridian Dayforce HRIS/HCM systems back-end functional experience, or combination of education and experience
- Experience with XML programming.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel, including advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, exports/imports, etc. and Microsoft BI.
- Highly developed analytical skills, strong technical aptitude and customer service skills, and attention to detail are essential to being successful in this role.
- Solution oriented, excellent communication skills and the ability to learn new technology quickly through instruction and self-training.
- Experience designing reports and analyzing data.
- Familiarity with human resources policies and procedures to ensure the HRIS meets organizational needs and goals & strong business aptitude for HR systems functionality.
