Adecco is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk for a 6-month contract role based in Toronto, ON. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments, supporting both accounting and operations departments. - Pay rate: $27-$30/hour.
- Location: Toronto, ON | Hybrid - Tuesdays and Thursdays in office
- Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm or 9:00am-5:00pm
- Job type: 6-month contract with possibility of extension | Full-time

Responsibilities:
- Process all invoices and payment requests in a timely manner to capitalize on discounts and avoid overdue charges.
- Ensure payments are supported by appropriate documentation, matching invoices with purchase orders and receiving slips where necessary.
- Obtain necessary approvals for invoices not involving receiving documents (e.g., services, insurance, legal).
- Liaise with required departments to secure approvals and provide supporting documentation.
- Prepare and assemble cheques with backup data prior to signing and process cheque runs.
- Prepare monthly accrued accounts payable listings for general ledger posting and computing listings for Board review.
- Maintain and file invoices and accounts payable documents.
- Handle inquiries regarding payable accounts and perform month-end reconciliations.
- Process Operation invoices by preparing and submitting complete invoice packages for entry and payment.
- Manage work orders and related paperwork.
- Provide backup support to other Accounts Payable Clerks as needed.
- Maintain office equipment inventory and support both Accounting and Operations departments.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements:
- Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
- Completion of some college or specialized courses related to accounting.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in an accounting department.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience in computer-based accounting systems.
- Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and accounting policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge of purchasing practices and inventory control.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, perform multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
- Team-oriented with a commitment to excellent customer service.
