Role Description
This is a part-time role for an Accountant/Bookkeeper at AF Accounting & Strategy in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. Outsourced firms need not apply. The role will start at 10-20 hours per week and increase along with the growth of the firm. We are looking to partner with someone that has an eagerness to learn, strong accounting acumen and wants to grow with the firm with the goal of becoming a full-time employee and a trusted leader within the business.
The role involves day-to-day tasks such as managing financial records, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and supporting business planning activities for our diverse range of clients. You will work along-side with the firm owner to help deliver a stellar level of services as well as grow the firm.
Qualifications
- University or College Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited Institution
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel is mandatory
- Knowledge of inventory accounting in QuickBooks Online
- Ability to handle workload for multiple clients
- Proficient in G-Suite products
- Experience with Sales Tax rules in Ontario and British Columbia
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and regulations
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
- Strong willingness to learn and develop along with the growth of the firm
Roles & Responsibilities
- Process Bills and Expenses for diverse range of clients by managing multiple inboxes
- Accurately record financial transactions related to Sales, Expenses, Sales Taxes, Income Taxes, Employer Health Taxes etc.
- File and pay Provincial and Federal Sales Taxes
- Document processes and procedures related to internal accounting processes
- Record client Bank Feeds and prepare Bank Reconciliations for Bank Accounts + Credit Cards
- Follow up with clients regarding documentation for business expenses
- Prepare month-end entries and complete account reconciliations
- Review Financial Statements for accuracy and completeness
- Work with CEO to develop processes and procedures for all clients
- Complete on-boarding of new clients
