As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team, contribute to our ongoing success, and make a difference by innovating and improving our current processes.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the company's financial transactions and accounting procedures
- Monitor and analyze costs to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of opportunity within operations/supply chain.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators to track operational performance and provide regular reporting to management.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with CRA regulations
- Handle payroll processing and related tax filings
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and policies
- Administer WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) claims and reporting
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions
- Perform account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules
- Prepare and maintain financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets
- Create and manage budgeting and forecasting processes
- Monitor cash flow
- Analyze financial results, forecasts, variances, and trends
- Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of reports
- Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of effective controls, policies, and procedures
- Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation by tracking data trends for creating forecasts and models
- Participate in systems migrations, implementations, and other IT projects
- Preparation of monthly government remittances (HST, GST)
- Conduct internal audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records
- Implement and improve accounting systems and processes for better efficiency
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions
- Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes
- Participate in special projects to improve process efficiency and performance
- Financial modeling for new business opportunities
- Ad-hoc tasks as required
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Postsecondary degree in a business and/or accounting program
- CPA, CMA, CGA Designation is mandatory
- 3+ years of relevant experience in an Accounting/Finance role
- 2+ years of Distribution, Supply Chain, Logistics experience is an asset
- Prepare and file tax returns
- Handle payroll processing and related tax filings
- Working knowledge/experience with ERP systems
- Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and take action against multiple duties and responsibilities simultaneously
- Manufacturing experience is highly regarded as a valuable asset
- Team player with strong people skills and proven ability to build relationships at various levels of the organization
- Is a team leader
- Ability to take initiative in recognizing and resolving accounting problems, discrepancies, or issues
- Strong computer literacy, including demonstrated skills with Office 365; Advanced Excel skills required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
