Job Description
What will you work on?
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the corporate accountant will be a key player in the financial closing of the North American and Digital Games entities at Spin Master. This hands-on role will support the month end close, PL analysis, and reporting of the results. The successful candidate will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, dead-line oriented environment.
How will you create impact?
Full cycle month end closing duties including but not limited to:
- Weekly/monthly clearing of banking transactions to the appropriate g/l
- Record payroll journal entries, including liaising with the Payroll team on various types of transactions
- Business partnering with various teams in Finance (including Treasury, A/R, A/P, Entertainment Finance, Digital Games Finance, etc.)
- Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain fixed assets registers including the computation of monthly depreciation charges
- Prepare month-end journal entries and account analysis
- Prepare various month-end schedules, analysis and ad hoc reports as required to support month-end and quarter-end reporting
- Proactively review current processes and seek ways to improve them through implementation of new tools or processes
- Support all projects under the Company’s digital transformation initiatives impacting external financial reporting and disclosure processes and controls
- Support the internal and external audit processes including directly managing the relationship with the external audit team
What are your skills and experience?
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience preferably in public company setting
- Strong computer literacy with advanced level Excel skill (pivot table, v-lookups, and advanced formulas) are required
- Experience with SAP is a must
- Pursuing a CPA designation an asset
