Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a Global Laboratory based in North Vancouver. We are seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant to join their team for a 3 month contract, + potential for extension. This position is full-time hours and fully in office.
Your new role
You will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Ensuring vendor invoices and payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Liaising with individuals and departments to ensure all vendor invoices, packing slips and statements are submitted to the A/P department in accordance with established procedures and deadlines.
- Reconciling vendor statements/prepayments and resolving discrepancies.
- Sorting and coding invoices and other related paperwork for payable entry.
- Entering payables into the accounting system.
- Handling the creation of new employee cards.
- Preparing cheques runs as scheduled and the manual cheques are required.
- Providing back-up, training, and support to the Accounts Payable team.
- Assisting in documentation of A/P processes and systems.
- Suggesting improvements to A/P processes and systems
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 6 months of Accounts Payable experience.
- Experience with an ERP system or accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Completion of financial accounting courses preferred.
