The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting needs of the company and assisting in general accounting operations. This includes handling accounts payable, supporting senior accountants and area controllers with month-end reconciliations in FloQast, and other essential accounting duties.
Essential Functions
- Prepare specific month-end journal entries (e.g., weekly payroll expense, intangible amortization, depreciation expense, and prepaid amortization).
- Prepare bank reconciliations for all bank accounts and record cash transactions in the database.
- Process accounts payable transactions, including receiving, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices and expense vouchers.
- Manage and resolve any discrepancies in invoices and ensure accurate coding of expenses.
- Review and reconcile vendor statements, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Assist with vendor management, including setting up new vendors and maintaining vendor records.
- Provide accounting assistance to all departments, including backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Accounting as needed.
- Review monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Reconcile various accounts and prepare related schedules in FloQast.
- Assist Payroll with report preparations, timecard reconciliations and others, and provide backup support.
- Undertake special accounting projects as assigned.
- Provide functional backup for other finance functions as assigned.

- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fields.
- Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while paying strict attention to detail.
- Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with others within the company and externally.
- Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a results-driven environment.
Physical Demands
- Approximately 90% of duties are performed in a seated position.
Pay Rate
$65,000-75,000 CAN
