Job Summary
Join our team as a bookkeeper and play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and supporting the overall economic health of our organization. As a bookkeeper, you will be responsible for bank reconciliation, account analysis, payroll processing, and budgeting using tools like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and more.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial transactions
- Track expenses
- Prepare Profit and loss monthly reports
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks for bookkeeping tasks
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
- Handle account reconciliation to maintain financial integrity
- Assist in budgeting processes to support financial planning
- Manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments
- Prepare and submit all government remittances (Payroll, WSIB, EHT, HST, CRA Remittance, IFTA)
- Calculate and prepare bi-weekly paychecks for employees and quarterly -- commissions for sales representatives
- Prepare T4 statements, ROEs and other statements
- Submit payments to suppliers in multiple currencies
- Handle other bill payments
- Maintain general ledgers and financial statements
- Post journal entries and prepare trial balance for books
- Store, update and retrieve financial data
- Perform clerical duties, such as maintaining filing systems
- Other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Proficient in English language (proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking required)
- Good knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office with proven skills in Excel
- Good knowledge of relevant legal regulations
- Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines
- Must be self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision
- Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience
- Post-secondary education in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred
