We are on the hunt for a tech-savvy, experienced Bookkeeper to join our fun, virtual team. This gig could be part-time or full-time to fit your schedule (approximately 25-40 hrs). Preference is given to those in Central Canada or willing to pretend they're in the Central Time Zone.
You can juggle multiple client files and thrive with minimal supervision, even under tight deadlines. Your attention to detail is so high, you could spot a typo in a dictionary, and your communication skills are exceptional. You bring a positive, curious, and can-do attitude to everything you do—no pressure.
Key duties include:
Bookkeeper:
- Manage full-cycle monthly bookkeeping for a variety of clients across several industries
- Handle GST & PST returns efficiently
- Compile necessary information for clients' year-end accountants
- Problem-solve and communicate directly with clients and their staff
Client Onboarding:
- Take charge of onboarding new clients and sorting out any catch-up/clean-up files
- Work closely with the bookkeeper taking over the file to ensure a smooth transition
Bookkeeping Lead:
- Troubleshoot and review files completed by other team members
- Coach, train, and review with bookkeepers on monthly bookkeeping tasks, ensuring reports are sent to clients on time
- Guide bookkeepers through GST returns with thorough reviews
- Oversee year-end reviews with a target of a 6-week send-off to accountants
- Problem-solve and communicate as needed with clients and staff
- Provide proactive coaching, training, and reviewing with team members weekly, biweekly, or monthly as decided by management
- Set team goals, help the team achieve and celebrate them, and foster company culture in the “Team Chat”
- Plan capacity: assess if current bookkeepers can take on more, determine if we need to hire, decide if files need to be swapped for a better fit, and ensure our tech is suitable
