Position Overview
Nordik Windows and Doors is searching for a Senior Accountant to join our team in our Ottawa (Vars) Ontario office. Reporting to the CFO, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and payroll functions of our US subsidiary. Experience with US accounting, taxation and payroll is strongly preferred.
Job Requirements
· QuickBooks Online experience is essential
· Accounting degree or diploma. CPA designation would be preferred
· Strong knowledge of GAAP (Canadian and USA) and financial reporting standards
· Good knowledge of US accounting, payroll and taxation would be an asset
· Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail
· Excellent written & verbal communication skills
· Strong knowledge of MS Excel
· 5+ years of relevant experience in an Accounting/Finance role
· Bilingual (English/French) would be considered an asset
· Demonstrated ability to achieve results despite large workload, competing demands, and a fast-paced environment
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage day-to-day accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
· Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations
· Issue invoices and/or credit notes for all customer orders.
· Post all supplier invoices and other bank transactions including customer payments and deposits.
· Capture all transactions from credit card statements into the accounting software.
· Prepare and reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a weekly basis.
· Input hours and calculate and process weekly payroll and subcontractor payments. Ensure withholding taxes and other group benefits (group insurance and 401k) are appropriately reconciled and remitted on a timely basis. Ensure complete statutory compliance with all benefit program requirements.
· Preparation and reconciliation of monthly statutory reports including payroll and sales taxes.
· Payments to suppliers on a regular weekly basis through wire/EFT/cheque and reconcile all supplier accounts and vendor statements to ensure that they are accurate
· Manage and forecast company cash flow
· Maintain the fixed asset ledger
· Record month end entries such as month end revenue and expense accruals and amortization
· Perform monthly GL account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
· Preparation of monthly financial statements. Analyze revenues, expenses, and all balance sheet items.
· Preparation of weekly key performance indicators/statistics to management
· Identify and investigate variances between GL accounts during various periods
· Perform gross margin analysis on all jobs for improved cost management and increased profits
· Ensure that management is properly informed of all financial results and issues
· Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, US tax, and internal policies
· Prepare year-end audit and tax schedules.
· Other ad-hoc accounting related tasks to support the team including integrations and automation opportunities
