Description
We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. Located in Mississauga, Ontario, the role is within an industry where attention to detail and organization are key. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling financial transactions in accounts payable for both wholesale and retail operations, and performing various general accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
- Accurate processing and reconciliation of invoices for wholesale and retail operations.
- Communicating with vendors to resolve any issues related to accounts payable.
- Preparation of accounts payable settlements through various methods such as credit card payments, EFT or wire, checks.
- Monthly allocation of bank fees & merchant credit card fees.
- Assisting the payroll department bi-weekly and processing expense reports in Concur for wholesale and retail.
- Reconciliation and settlement of monthly credit card statements.
- Preparation of documents and various sales reporting for managers and executives as required.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reporting schedules and annual financial statements.
- Preparing monthly journal entries (AP closure) and coordinating with departments for accuracy.
- Responsible for all reconciliations at month-end, quarter-end and year end.
- Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end information to internal and external auditors.
- Assisting in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
- Scanning of monthly journal entries for internal and external audit.
- Filing as required.
- Providing AP and AR backup activities when required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or in the field of accounts payable
- Proven knowledge and practical application of Accounts Payable (AP)
- Experience with LEED Accounts Payable
- Proficiency in using MS Excel for financial analysis and reporting
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft or similar financial software
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in high volume environments
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proven problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- High degree of professionalism and adherence to ethical standards.
