We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Clerk for a summer position to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience with QuickBooks or a strong willingness to learn. This role is suitable for students currently enrolled in finance or accounting programs who are looking to gain practical experience in the field. This position is responsible for managing and processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
- Prepare bills, invoices, and bank deposits
- Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
- Generate reports detailing accounts payable status
- Assist in month-end closing
- Provide support for the annual audit
- Maintain accurate historical records
- Ensure confidentiality and security of financial data
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Finance, Accounting, or related program
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office (especially Excel) is a plus
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software is a plus
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
