Continental Insulation is seeking a full-time permanent Senior Accountant to join our company.

Continental Insulation, based in Sudbury, Ontario, has over 37 years of experience in industrial, commercial, and residential insulation and asbestos removal. Over the past 20 years, the company has continued along a path of expansion and diversification, entering the polyurethane spray foam insulation, fireproofing and metal siding markets.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial reporting/accounting
- Accounting degree, diploma, or equivalent
- CPA designation is considered an asset
- Full cycle bookkeeping/accounting experience
- Experience with Bank Reconciliations
- Experience with Month End Close Preparation
- Experience with accounting software
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Simply Accounting
- Advanced skills in MS Excel
- Experience in payroll processing with knowledge of federal and provincial payroll regulations and requirements
- Understanding of advanced accounting principles, internal controls, and business practices
- Experience with accounts payable, job costing and financial reporting
- Able to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Organized, great time management and have solid writing, phone, and general communication skills
- Capacity to operate independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proven experience in finance management
- Strong time management skills
- Experience working with desktop bookkeeping software is beneficial
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer all payroll functions
- Ensure compliance with provincial labour laws and Collective agreement
- Process weekly Payroll, for both union and regular employees, including reconciling Time Sheets, inputting hours into the Payroll system, allocating hours appropriately to specific jobs and accounts.
- Process new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
- Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll, union dues and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions
- Preparation and issuance of yearly T4s and filing T4s and T4 Summary with CRA
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Preparation of monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable, including reconciling invoices to Purchase Orders, Job allocation and Accounts.
- Audit company credit card charges
- Manage audits, including preparation of year end working papers, and liaise with accounting
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Complies with federal, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports.
- Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
- Compile and account for capital labour costs as part of project costs.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Support the Company’s strategic plans and initiatives
