Job Summary
Our Senior Bookkeepers play pivotal leaders in our firm, overseeing financial operations for a select group of complex and valued clients. Utilizing a diverse range of accounting software, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, DEXT, Hubdoc, Keeper, and potentially others - they play a key role in providing strategic financial insights, managing client relationships, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. This role involves participating in a team of bookkeepers, conducting file reviews, managing audits, implementing accounting apps, and supporting our advisory services. The Senior Bookkeeper is a key contributor to our commitment to excellence, not only in client services but also in the continuous development and improvement of our internal processes. They lead by example, demonstrating expertise in a wide range of accounting tools and fostering a culture of professional growth within the team.

Key Responsibilities
Client Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage financial records for a select group of complex and valued clients using diverse accounting software, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, DEXT, Hubdoc, Keeper, and other systems as needed.
Internal Controls and Accuracy:
- Develop and implement robust internal controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records for all clients.
Strategic Financial Guidance:
- Provide strategic financial insights and guidance to clients, supporting business decisions and identifying growth opportunities through meticulous financial data analysis.
File Reviews and Compliance:
- Conduct thorough file reviews for clients, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulatory compliance.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Train and mentor experienced bookkeepers, offering support and guidance to maintain the accuracy and completeness of financial records for all clients.
Audit Management:
- Manage audits for clients, collaborating with external auditors and accountants to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
App Implementation and Advisory:
- Integrate operational apps with clients’ accounting systems and provide advisory services related to these apps. Experience working with ERP systems would also be an asset.
Collaboration and Reporting:
- Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting, with a strong understanding of bookkeeping processes and best practices (GAAP). Ideally 4+ years of experience with exposure to a variety of industries.
- Previous leadership experience is an asset, you should be interested in professional development and want to help develop the team as a whole.
- Extensive knowledge and proficiency in using accounting software, particularly QuickBooks Online and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors and anomalies in financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients and team members. Experiencing managing client relationships and working with accountants in an advisory capacity would be an asset.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Experience with Karbon or other work management platforms would be preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with apps such as DEXT, Hubdoc, and Keeper. Bonus points if you love Notion.
