Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations.
Duties:
- Bookkeeping using Sage, QuickBooks (Online) and CaseWare or other software.
- Full cycle accounting, Reconciliations of bank and Ledger accounts.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, working papers etc.
- Prepare GST/HST, PST, WCB returns.
- Communicate with clients and provide instructions to clients if necessary.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Understanding of accounting practice and principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft word, excel.
- Strong analytical, time management and problem solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial data.
-1-2 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience (preferably in public practice or Tax Accounting/Bookkeeping Firm)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Prepare tax returns (Profile)
- Calculate and prepare payroll
- Handle CRA tasks of various complexities promptly and efficiently, communications (Calls and Letter)
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in accounting functions
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as Profile, QuickBooks, Sage, and Caseware
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Portuguese proficiency is an asset, but not required
