Description
We are seeking an Accounting Technician to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. The selected individual will play a pivotal role in maintaining and monitoring financial records, processing transactions, and providing excellent customer service. This role is particularly suited to individuals with a strong background in accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliation, and bookkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing full-cycle bookkeeping for client files and ensuring all transactions are accurate and up-to-date
- Managing general ledger maintenance including the review and reconciliation of various accounts such as bank and credit card transactions, corporate taxes, and sales tax payable to regulatory authorities
- Conducting regular review and analysis of income and expense accounts to identify significant year-over-year fluctuations
- Preparing and filing GST/HST returns, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Posting journal entries as part of the accounting process and maintaining accurate records
- Managing all aspects of payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
- Communicating with clients on a daily basis, providing updates and addressing inquiries in a timely manner
- Leveraging technology to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency
- Participating in activities to promote the team and its services
- Analyzing and reviewing year-end reports, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Must hold a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting technician role or similar
- Proficiency in account reconciliation is required
- Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) management is essential
- Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in bank reconciliations
- Prior experience in bookkeeping is required
- Proficiency in data entry tasks is essential
- Must have strong skills in Microsoft Excel
- Experience in month end close procedures is required
- Prior experience in payroll management is preferred
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software is required
