Job Description:
Our firm is a family-run boutique firm specializing in Health Care. Our environment promotes an independent and flexible workspace. Looking for a Staff Accountant to join a great family with a personal touch and strong ability to work on deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work on weekends during tax season (Saturdays). Willing to improve processes with the adoption of digital platforms, cloud accountings, and the progression of remote/paperless accounting.
Main Duties include:
- Provide accounting, tax and assurance services to owner-managed business clients;
- Prepare engagement working papers, financial statements, and client correspondence;
- Discuss financial statements and engagement issues with appropriate managers;
- Manage engagements from start to completion including consulting directly with clients;
- Participate in tax planning on corporate engagements and personal tax matters;
- Prepare and file corporate tax returns and complex personal tax returns (Investments, Rental, Self-employed, Farming);
- Prepare all other tax forms T4/T5/T4A, Payroll Reconciliation, HST filing;
- Perform and supervise bookkeeping duties and recommend solutions to bookkeeper;
- Understand client’s business models and industries and customize solutions as needed;
- Coordinate with reporting manager to manage clients and recommend solutions to management;
- Will be responsible for managing own portfolio of clients and directly dealing with clients for all needs; and
- Will be responsible for internal bookkeeper liaison for your clients.
Experience:
· Minimum 3 years Canadian Public Accounting firm
· Knows the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
· Shows strong computer skills and is hands-on independently including MS Office 365, QuickBooks Desktop, Hubdoc, Visual Tax and Profile
· Proficiency in cloud-based accounting of Xero, QBO, WagePoint is a must
· Willing to learn new CRM software if needed
· Note-taking skill is preferred, but not required
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or any other similar major with a background in accounting
· Students working towards CPA designation are welcome
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
