Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is accountable for the financial management of the organization and oversees all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities. The Controller is responsible for accurate and timely communication of financial information, analysis, and business results to management.
As the Controller, you will lead both an in-house team located in the office as well as an overseas team within the accounting department. This position is a “hands on” accounting position with the objective of harnessing all areas of management and cost accounting. As our company continues to grow, so will the scope and complexity of the position and we will soon be looking to add additional accounting staff to support the department.

Experience in manufacturing or cannabis sectors an asset.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations
- Manage cash flow, budgets, forecasts, monthly and annual reporting
- Preparation of internal financial statements and annual IFRS audited financial statements
- Analyze and interpret financial results in order to assist and advise the executive leadership team
- Cost accounting related to manufacturing of cannabis finished goods
- Implement accurate inventory controls and reports to support biological asset valuation and accounting
- Oversee accounting and inventory control software
- Adhere to the highest ethical and business standards
- Prepare accurate forecasts on a monthly basis and cash flow statements
- Prepare all government entity submissions including but not limited to: Federal Excise tax, HST, QST, Remittances, WSIB & EHT
- Ensure successful cash management
- Ensure compliance with various company contracts
- Ensure integrity and efficiency of computerized data processing functions
- Maintains full set of accounting records
- Produce monthly set of Financials
- Reconcile banking, taxes, AR an AP
- Communication daily, weekly, monthly to Management and direct to CFO
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- University or College Degree, preferably with a business, finance, and accounting focus
- Accounting designation CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) with a minimum 5 years in practical accounting experience
- 5+ years of experience in intermediate or senior accounting role at Controller, Accounting Supervisor or Manager level, preferably within manufacturing, agricultural or cannabis sectors
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
- Exceptional computer skills including the ability to operate and manage computerized financial systems, spreadsheet and word processing programs and email at a highly proficient level
- Audit experience (IFRS) and financial statement drafting
- Ability in analyzing financial information and business operations with positive bottom-line impact
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, QuickBooks Enterprise, Online banking, payroll is essential
- Prior experience in a fast-paced growth scenario an asset
- Experience in development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures as an asset
- Self-starter with a passion for accuracy, efficiency and excellence in accounting and finance
