Key Responsibilities:
Payroll
- Processes bi-weekly payroll for Canadian employees including, verifying PTO and floating holiday hours available, reviewing and auditing time entries, transmitting and receiving payroll files.
- Sets up Canadian new hires, job/location codes, processes changes, terminations, LOA, garnishments and other miscellaneous paperwork such as direct deposits, T4s, ROEs and employee personal changes. Follows up on missing or incomplete paperwork and forms.
- Acts as the primary contact for Canadian payroll, researches and resolves problems, and files paperwork as needed.
- Responsible for all Provincial and Federal filings/reports, including tax updates in the payroll system.
- Troubleshoots payroll system issues and looks for ways to streamline and optimize payroll processes in coordination with the Total Rewards team.
- Maintains the Canadian Payroll Work Instruction Manual and updates as necessary.
- Works closely with various auditors to ensure compliance.
- Works closely with accounting to address questions about P&L’s, account/accrual balances, general ledger, etc.
Benefits
- Responsible for bi-weekly Retirement Plan contribution process, including transmission.
- Assists with managing the RRSP program; which includes distributions, loans and enrollment processes.
- Provides daily administration of Amplifon’s Canadian benefit programs.
- Audits monthly benefit billings/invoices.
- Counsel employees on benefits programs, reviews enrollment in benefit programs, assists employees with filing claims.
- Processes Leave of Absences and Workers Compensation cases.
- In partnership with Amplifon’s benefits broker and Canada HR Director, develops, creates and distributes benefit communications, including, intranet, payroll system, mailings, mobile app and benefit guidebook.
Additional Responsibilities
- Trains new hires on payroll and benefits during new hire orientations.
- Acts as a backup for the US payroll processing and audits US bi-weekly payroll.
- High engagement with maintaining a strong culture across the organization through strong support and communication with employees that reinforces our total compensation best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- High school degree with a minimum of 5+ years payroll and benefits experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) required or in progress.
- Experience with Canadian multi-provincial payroll is required.
- Knowledge of FLSA, and similar US state/federal laws is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience Ceridian Dayforce and Oracle is preferred.
- Experience with ServiceNow HeyHR is preferred
- Proficient with MS Office software, specifically excel.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service, organization and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must be forward thinking and able to adapt to change.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Position requires a high degree of concentration to manage frequent interruptions while meeting strict deadlines.
- Frequently required to use a computer and mouse (up to 8 hours per day)
