TITLE: Financial Controller
Direct working relationship: President
Key Working relationships: Senior Leadership Team, Accounting and Estimating team.
Location: Earthscape’s play home office in Wallenstein, Ontario
Compensation: Highly competitive compensation package with Base salary $110,000-$120,000 , Extended health benefits, stock options, flexible schedule and highly positive work culture and environment.

Summary and value of the role
The Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations. This individual will lead and develop the accounting team, drive strong data analytics practices. The Controller will ensure the company’s financial health and contribute to strategic decision-making to support the company's growth and profitability.
The ideal candidate will have experience in made-to-order businesses, possess a CPA designation, and be a hands-on leader with a strategic mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Reporting:
· Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
· Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports.
· Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
· Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
· Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with ASPE.
· Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis:
· Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
· Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
· Provide input on new ventures, existing legal entity structures and efficient operating models.
· Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend actions to mitigate risks.
· Cash management: Negotiate banking agreements and administer banking relationships.
· Develop and monitor cash budgets and forecasts.
· Insurance: Negotiate Insurance policies – CGL, E&O, Property, Auto, D&O, Bonding, Life etc.
· ESOP administration
Leadership and Team Development:
· Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
· Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture promoting continuous learning and development.
· Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
Data Analytics and Insights:
· Leverage data analytics to provide actionable insights and support strategic decision-making.
· Implement and refine financial models to enhance forecasting and financial planning processes.
· Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
Strategic Planning and Advisory:
· Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute the company’s strategic financial goals.
· Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business initiatives and investments.
· Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and optimize financial performance.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
· Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
· Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
· Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
Risk Management and Compliance:
· Identify and mitigate financial risks to the organization.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
· Coordinate with external auditors, lawyers, advisors and regulatory bodies as necessary.
Qualifications, skills, and experience
Education/Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA a definite asset.
· Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a financial leadership role.
· Compliance-In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
· Experience assessing and evaluating accounting software and implementing changes so the company can grow and scale.
· Experience implementing a software solutions and implementations a definite asset.
· Experience working with financial consultants on specialties such as US tax regulations an asset.

· Data Analytics-Strong expertise in data analytics and financial modeling.

· Project Management- Skilled in managing large-scale projects, particularly ERP implementations, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
