Financial Controller

We are currently looking for a full time Financial Controller to spearhead the development of our Forest Readymix Operation!
The Accountant/Controller is responsible for all areas in developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This role requires you to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a multitude of accounting activities and tight deadlines including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and the support of budget and forecast activities.
Reporting to the leader of the finance department, the Financial Controller, will be responsible for:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Forest Readymix finance department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Working collaboratively with the accounting and finance department team.
- Managing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Preparing budgets and collaborating with department heads to develop accurate financial projections.
- Preparing variance analyses (actual vs. budget) and coordinate investigation and resolution into discrepancies with appropriate department managers
- Monitoring cash flow, financial performance, and key performance indicators, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Reconciliation of bank accounts, inter-office, and order expense accounts, including follow-up with outstanding unreconciled items.
- Coordinating and managing the annual external audit process, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Developing process efficiencies and implement a global system for back office operations to determine better ways to align tasks with members of the finance team and boost data integrity
- Providing strategic financial insights to executive leadership, contributing to business planning and growth strategies.
- Supervising and mentoring finance team members, fostering professional development and a positive work environment.
- Ensuring consistency in procedure throughout all divisions of the company.
Qualified candidates will possess:
- A CPA designation (former CGA/CA/CPA)
- 2-3 years of related experience in an accounting role
- Must have knowledge of Accounting Software - Jonas and Quickbooks experience is preferred
- Knowledge of Accounting Standards for private enterprises
- Extremely strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel and Word required)
- Ability to automate Excel spreadsheets for process efficiency improvements
