Job purpose
As the Internal Controller, they are an accounting professional with diversified experience in manufacturing, accounting, business management, tax, audit, review, and compilation. The controller maximizes return on financial assets through financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
Mission
The main purpose of this role is to ensure the profitability and continuity of the business for current and future growth. Managing the assets, CAPEX, costs, and budgets is critical to the success and purchasing power of the business for all its stakeholders. Key decision making on the financial health of the business where difficult decisions are required and ensuring all processes are done for the growth and development of the business for its longevity.
Duties and responsibilities
· Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting.
· Back up to the payroll process and ensure accurate and timely payment to employees.
· Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits.
· Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, optimize working capital, and includes daily treasury duties.
· Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and reporting requirements.
· Manage all aspects of month end close and provide leadership with a summarize reasons for month end results based on the current state of the business and what transpired in the month.
· Prepare and sign off on monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
· Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls in compliance with approved policies and procedures. And maintain fixed assets tracking for auditing and financial statements.
· Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local legal requirements by reviewing existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements pertaining to payroll and fiduciary and corporate responsibilities; filing financial reports; and advising management on needed actions.
· Coordinate the annual budgeting process by developing, monitoring, and enforcing the schedule and related deadlines, complete all budgeting reports for the parent company with the collaboration of the leadership team and other department heads.
· Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (Master’s degree preferred)
· CPA/CA designation is strongly preferred
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance role.
· Prefer 3+ years’ experience in mid-sized manufacturing environment.
· Exceptional understanding of manufacturing processes, overhead calculation and allocation, standard costing, inventory control, job reporting, labor analysis and reporting.
· Financial Skills including understanding US/CAN GAAP – Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Solid understanding and experience with ERP systems.
· Strong MS Excel skills.
· Strong analysis skills and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
This position has a salary range starting at $85,000-$95,000 CAD with a target bonus of 20%
Other duties
· Abide by and enforce all Health & Safety Policies and procedures in the workplace, ensuring all direct reports are adhered to in their daily work lives.
· Participate in all workplace training requirements and ensure all reporting staff adhere to this requirement within the timeframes required.
· Maintain strict confidentiality of all company proprietary information, compensation, employee personnel and disciplinary issues.
· Consistently looking at ways to add value and continuous improvements and should also take ownership in own their role and to grow and develop personally and professionally, and to help others in the admin department in doing this as well.
· Conduct weekly and lead ad hoc meetings with the admin team
· Manage bi-yearly Development Plans and performance metrics for the admin team

· Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The following are qualifications that are necessary for a person to be considered for this position.
· Accounting degree (bachelor’s degree – minimum and CPA preferred).
· Financial Skills including Analyzing Information, Developing Budgets, Performance Management and understanding US/CAN GAAP – Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Exceptional understanding of manufacturing processes, overhead calculation and allocation, standard costing, inventory control, job reporting, labor analysis and reporting.
· Prefer 3+ years’ experience in mid-sized manufacturing environment.
· Solid understanding and experience with ERP systems and mechanisms including inventory control, accounting processes and procedures, data entry, query and reporting.
· Strong database query and report building skills. Experience with NAV/ERP software systems (or equivalent). Strong MS Excel skills.
· Strong analysis skills and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
Working conditions
This job operates in an office setting with occasional interaction in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. The employee may be exposed to a variety of conditions such as:

This position may require occasional travel, less than 5%
