Position Purpose summary:
The Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association is seeking a Part-time Medical Administrative Assistant. The incumbent will be responsible for the clinical and administrative services associated with the operation of the physician practice/clinic.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
(Responsibilities include; but are not limited to:
- Answering the phone and returning voicemails
- Responding to patient and physician emails
- Managing and maintaining physician schedule
- Coordinating appointments with other departments and clinics
- Coordinating activities with external sites involved in the physicians’ practice
- Transcription of letters and medical notes on an EMR system
- Electronic filing and chart organization
- Managing all patient bookings; inquiries and scheduling appropriate tests; and running in-person clinics
- Coordination of OHIP billings
- Coordinating room bookings
- Providing coverage for outpatient clinics when required
- Providing educational support for medical students/residents/fellows.
- Scheduling zoom meetings for rounds and sending calendar invites
- Assisting with in-person clinics
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
· Experience in the Accuro EMR system is required
· Ability to work in a team environment with other administrative assistants and interdisciplinary team members.
· College Diploma in a related discipline, or recognized equivalent, or a combination of education and experience is required.
- Demonstrated advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a medical administrative assistant role. Hospital experience is preferred
- Proven knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and act independently using sound judgment as well as accepting directions
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills and good team player skills
- Excellent time management skills; attention to detail; the capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple work demands, including time sensitive requests
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and work well with a diverse group of individuals
- Tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
