We currently have an opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional to join us as a Senior Manager, Private Enterprise.
The Senior Manager is responsible for providing oversight of the accounting team, and collaborating with the management and administration teams, and external advisors to deliver high quality client service and advice. With extensive knowledge of accounting and tax principles, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of managing a team of accounting professionals, the Senior Manager ensures accuracy and compliance, and continually seeks new and better ways of doing things.
Specifically the Senior Manager, Private Enterprise is responsible for:
File Review
- Provides a first review on all year-end engagements, and prepares them for partner approval.
- Completes review of corporate tax returns to identify key risks and opportunities to add value, and ensure that clients needs are met.
- Completes review of T1 and T3 tax returns to ensure compliance and identify potential planning opportunities.
- Collaborates with clients and government agencies to address tax compliance issues and prepare responses.
- Prepares professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts, and highlights.
- Works with senior management to coordinate the flow of engagement planning and scheduling.
Client Service
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients by understanding their accounting needs and providing effective solutions and advice.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for client communications to answer questions, resolve issues and manage expectations.
- Provides innovative and insightful recommendations to support client’s financial needs and decision-making processes.
Team Management/Leadership
- Contributes to a healthy workplace culture by demonstrating a high degree of ethic and integrity.
- Develops strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize the effectiveness of the team.
- Leads, mentors and coaches a designated team of six accountants and manages the assignment and oversight of day-to-day work.
- Ensures that the team is up to date on industry and technical regulations, standards and expertise to complete compilations, reviews and tax compliance engagements.
- Identifies skill and knowledge gaps and leads team and individual training initiatives.
- Continuously seeks opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and service delivery, and contributes to the development of new ideas, and efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 5-7 years’, post designation, of relevant work experience in public accounting.
- 2-4 years’ experience supervising/managing a professional team.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Superior knowledge in the preparation of Canadian tax returns (personal, corporate and trust) and compliance as well as research and documentation of tax issues.
- Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Taxprep, QuickBooks, and Sage is preferred.

This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday through Friday. The incumbent will be required to work extra hours outside of regular business hours, based on business needs. The salary range for the position is $95,000 - $150,000.
