Our Cambridge-based client is looking to hire a Payroll Supervisor for a 16-month maternity coverage contract role. Our client has locations across several Canadian provinces. The right candidate will have the flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity in the office three days out of the week. This role blends payroll expertise along with benefits and pension governance. This person will play an integral role in the payroll department using their supervisory background as well as using their excellent people skills to be the main point of contact for employees for all total rewards programs.

Responsibilities:
- Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis
- Maintain detailed documents and records for audit purposes
- Reconcile and remit all Regulatory remittances in a timely manner
- Works with the Finance department to guarantee that all internal controls are adhered to
- Maintain the administration of the Canadian benefit and pension plans, as well act as the primary point of contact for inquiries
- Oversee payroll audits
- Provide direction to the HR team and leadership in regard to compensation, salary, job evaluations, rewards and recognition programs, and market benchmarking
- Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial laws and regulations
- Guide and direct other members of the payroll department
- Minimum of 4 years of high-level payroll experience, preferably with some union and multi-provincial background
- Previous Supervisory experience of a small team
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or Human Resources preferred, or equivalent experience
- Canadian Payroll Management Certificate Program preferred
- Experience with ADP or Ceridian is an asset
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefit plans and pensions
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
