Location: On-site in Downtown Toronto
Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Processing:
- Obtaining payroll information and changes before deadlines.
- Reviewing payroll transmission information for final approval.
- Verifying payroll reports and providing breakdowns to the Financial Control Department.
- Managing payroll information, files, and records for compliance and audit purposes.
- Coordinating with payroll providers to ensure all requirements are met.
- Identifying potential tax or pay-related risks and making recommendations.
- Collaborating with the Head of HR and Administration on salary increases and bonus programs.
- Verifying various reports from payroll providers and preparing tax filings.
2. Annual Appraisal:
- Participating in formulating the annual performance appraisal plan.
- Reviewing performance appraisal data for departments, branches, and employees.
3. Other HR Activities:
- Coordinating background checks for Responsible Persons.
- Maintaining employee files and processing passports/work permits.
- Supporting compensation and benefits for expatriates.
- Organizing and completing inspections.
- Assisting in company-wide training on compensation and access authorities.
- Handling additional HR tasks as assigned by department heads.
4. Policies & Procedures:
- Participating in developing and implementing HR policies and processes.
- Updating and maintaining HR-related policies as required by legislation.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Chinese is advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll processing or equivalent.
- Knowledge of compensation management and payroll systems.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
