Position Summary:
Assists the Finance Director with Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, as well as, other basic bookkeeping.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Prepare bi-weekly payroll in Deluxe and journal entries in Jonas Encore accounting software. Assist supervisors where needed in completing their payroll
2. Year-end payroll reconciliation, prepare T4, WSIB filing, Health tax, CPP, and other payroll taxes
3. Ensure accuracy of payroll and prepare monthly and annual journal entries and reconciliations
4. Record member payments and make bank deposits and reconciliations
5. Create and update member’s account and answer questions about their accounts
6. Process PAD, and prepare monthly statements and bills
7. Process accounts payable, create EFT batch and cheques
8. Prepares month-end accrual entries
9. Reconciles accrued payable accounts, municipal taxes, accrued payroll, member deposits and reciprocal club clearing
10. Perform all job related filing
11. Assist with daily accounting tasks including recording transactions, reconciling bank statements
12. Assist with month-end and year-end closings including preparing journal entries
13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Finance Director
Job Qualifications:
· Basic education requirement: post secondary courses in payroll and accounting
· Strong communication and keyboarding skills combined with some background in payroll and accounting
· Minimum of five years experience in an administrative position or a position with exposure to general facets of accounting systems
· Ability to operate office equipment such as a computer, fax machine, postage meter, photocopier and calculator
· Detail-oriented with numbers aptitude
