POSITION: Junior Accountant

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting the accounting department to complete their monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives. The position resides within the corporate accounting group at Aquilini Development and Construction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned from time to time)
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist in cash management duties.
- Review Aged AR and AP reports.
- Reconcile key GL account balances such as intercompany, investments, revenue, and debt.
- Monitor clearing accounts such as suspense, sales tax receivables, sales A/R, and A/P payroll.
- Support A/P team with monthly payables cycle.
- Assist with preparation of partnership reporting.
- Maintain supporting records for transactions within key partnerships.
- Respond to inquiries from the Controller and Management regarding special reporting requests.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process.
- Assists in establishing and implementing business process improvements and documentation.
- Participating in various Finance/Accounting Department initiatives and special projects.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other relevant field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in accounting roles.
- Experience in the Real Estate development industry is an asset.
- Proficient knowledge of Excel is required and working knowledge of Acumatica is an asset
- Deadline driven, with superior dedication, attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and prioritize deliverables.
- Adaptable and continuously seeking out opportunities to improve existing processes.
- A team player with professional written & verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
