Brannon Steel is seeking an experienced
Accountant to join the finance team at its Brampton, Ontario headquarters. Reporting to the Controller, you'll play a key roll in the day-to-day financial activities and success of the organization including payroll administration for 200 hourly employees.
Starting salary: $65,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Remote work: No
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial records including reconciling general ledger accounts
- Perform accounts receivable activities including account reconciliations and payment collection
- Process full-cycle hourly payroll including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
- Calculate and process payroll adjustments, retroactive pay and terminations
- Prepare and submit remittances and other statutory filings
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data
- Prepare and submit government reports and other compliance-related documents
- Assist with external audits, budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist in the preparation of reports for Senior Management
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical records
- Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and GAAP
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline OR equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting regulations
- Computer-proficient including accounting / payroll software and MS Excel
- Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central is a plus
- Superb attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
