Lymphoma Canada, a long-standing charitable organization located in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to work 22.5 hours per week (3 days per week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) on a part-time basis. This role requires you to be highly experienced with QuickBooks, preferably desktop and online and to have experience working in the charitable sector.
Experience working independently and performing all accounting functions up to and including booking all entries, maintaining the trial balance and producing financial statements is required.
Expectations
The Bookkeeper will be knowledgeable in the provision of all aspects of bookkeeping, banking, payroll, donation processing and reporting. The Bookkeeper will maintain all necessary records, files, and processes to ensure that the financial operations of Lymphoma Canada are compliant with accounting standards and CRA regulations, focusing on accuracy and transparency.
You will report into the CEO and will work closely with management. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
· Prepare General Ledger and supporting accounts within QuickBooks
· Prepare accounts payable files and process pays/bills for approval and distribution
· Record all revenues including grants, sponsorships, donations and fundraising;
· Reconcile all accounts and prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, revenue, expenditure, and performance to the budget, variance, and cash flow
· Maintain financial records and electronic and paper filing
· Complete Bank Reconciliations monthly and manage cash (including deposits)
· Process payroll entries (using our payroll services vendor)
· Prepare Financial Statements, ROEs, GST/PST Rebates, T3010 year-end charity renewal and audit documentation, T4’s and T4 Summary reports
· Prepare annual organizational budget
· Compiling all information required by auditors in advance of the annual audit
· Other related duties including entering donor information into Raisers Edge, donor database system
Competencies and Skills required
· University degree or accounting designation required. Certification in Bookkeeping/Financial Management or equivalent experience.
· 3-5 years experience providing Bookkeeping services, some of which was for a charity or not for profit
· 3-5 years experience and proficient using QuickBooks, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and virtual meeting applications
· Understanding of accounting principles and standards for NFP organizations in Canada
· Proficient in data entry
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Prior experience in a similar role
· Able to work independently
