Summary:
This role supports the Finance Operations Team in the Transportation Group and is primarily responsible for performing month end financial reporting procedures in an accurate, timely and effective manner. As an integral member of the team, you pride in staying focused and handling detailed information as well as being able to think out of the box through day-to-day financial operations and drives continuous process improvement. In addition, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that acts as a business partner to ensure goals and results are aligned across the group.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of month end procedures including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliation
- Act as Finance focal person to assist with Transportation Management System migration project
- Perform reconciliations between various billing systems and the ERP system to ensure data integrity
- Assist with financial variance analysis and lead month end results review meetings with Operation Management
- Develop documentation on procedures, policies and effective controls to improve efficiency and mitigate risks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to retrieve information on a timely basis and ensure necessary updates are made to the month end reporting procedures
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations on a timely basis, analyze, query and resolve discrepancies, and communicate the same to stakeholders
- Assist with year-end audit preparations
- Assist with other reporting requirements such as external customer reporting
- Assist with operating budgets and forecasts as needed
- Ad-hoc tasks as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in financial reporting and analysis
- Working knowledge of transportation management system (TMS) software considered an asset
- CPA designation in progress
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics considered an asset
- Experience in billing system migration project considered an asset
- Advanced Excel skills is essential (Power Pivot is an asset)
- Problem solver with the ability to communicate effectively on analysis
- Able to work autonomously on an ongoing basis

- Strong oral and written communication skills
