We are a public accounting firm located in Newmarket, Ontario, looking to fill a full time in-house bookkeeping position.
Position Summary
Our firm provides a full range of external bookkeeping services to clients in a wide range of industries.
Major Responsibilities
- Daily use of QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online;
- Preparing monthly bank reconciliations;
- Maintaining and updating accounting records by performing duties such as recording and posting transactions in journals and the general ledger;
- Process and calculate payroll for our clients;
- Monthly calculation of payroll deductions, HST, EHT, WSIB;
- Bring records to a trial balance;
- Coordinating and supporting preparation of the client’s financial statements;
- Assembling information for the year end work;
- Regularly communicate with clients over the phone
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a bookkeeping role
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and full cycle bookkeeping;
- Experience processing payroll is required;
- A keen attention to detail along with an ability to focus on the overall concepts;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Self-motivated with strong prioritizing and follow-up skills; and
- Ability to cope in a deadline-driven environment.
Computer Skills
- Highly experienced in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Outlook and Word
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12-18 months
