Melo LLP is currently seeking a detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team in Kingsville, Ontario. As a Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in supporting the firm’s financial decision-making processes by providing key insights, forecasts, and financial data analysis. This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial analysis, and an understanding of Ontario's regulatory and economic landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis & Reporting - Examine financial statements and data, preparing reports and presentations for internal review.
- Budgeting & Forecasting - Design and enhance financial frameworks to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Advisory - Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Variance Analysis - Monitor and interpret variances from budgeted figures, identifying trends and suggesting corrective actions.
- Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure adherence to Ontario’s regulatory requirements, assessing financial risk, and assisting with internal audits.
- Conduct market and economic research to inform strategic financial decisions, specifically in the Ontario market.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a relatable field.
- CPA is a requirement for this role.
- Accounting firm background is an asset.
- Three or more years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within an accounting or financial services firm.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
- Excellent analytical skills, with attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the firm’s operational team.
