We are looking for a Director of Finance to join our growing finance team. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will be a pioneer in leading the evolution of Biotricity’ s finance and accounting function. The ideal candidate will apply his/her passion for strategic thinking, to design, build and refine finance and accounting processes in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. The right candidate will have an impact and bring focus on metrics and analysis that will be important to Biotricity’s future.
Biotricity is a medical technology company in its early stage of growth. The company is focused on delivering innovative, state of the art FDA-approved remote biometric monitoring solutions to both medical professionals and consumer markets. Its core focus is in cardiac diagnosis and monitoring, which is a springboard into other chronic care modalities because cardiac is the number one chronic care condition in North America and around the globe. The company has a bright future because its technology is state of the art and poised for global commercialization. The company has tripled its sales in the past three years and has recently achieved positive free cash flows on its path to full profitability. Biotricity is head-quartered in Redwood City, California and is publicly traded. Most of its finance team is currently located in Toronto, Canada. Most or all responsibilities can be handled remotely.
What will you do?
- Own the month-end and quarter-end close processes including oversight of account reconciliations, financial statements, note disclosure and preparation of MD&A
- Own the month-end reporting and analytic processes including variance analysis and KPI reporting (MRR, attrition, etc.)
- Take charge of crucial accounting responsibilities, such as overseeing the revenue recognition, AP/accruals, inventory and equity processes in a rapidly accelerating environment of new products, new customers as well as expanding business models
- Manage external bookkeeping/contractor resources on various projects
- Be challenged by ad-hoc finance projects such as process automation, system implementation, treasury tasks, and tax matters
- Maintain and develop financial forecast models and assist with scenario-based financial modeling needs
- Live and breathe continuous process improvements and help shape the finance function’s roadmap to success
What are the requirements for this role?
- 4 or more years of accounting experience --- the ideal candidate should have previous audit experience, or non-audit but full-cycle accounting experience
- An undergraduate degree with an accounting or finance focus
- CPA accounting designation
- US GAAP working experience
- NetSuite experience
- Quickbooks experience an asset
- SaaS revenue analytics experience
- A desire to learn and confidence in your ability to “figure things out”, whether it’s related to technical accounting research, finance systems/solutions, or healthcare industry knowledge
- Strong belief in making business decisions based on financial analysis; equipped with strong working knowledge of Excel
- A highly positive and proactive character, with a proven passion for process improvement and self development
- Have a passion for learning the latest technologies and using technologies to problem-solve
- A dynamic personality that loves working in a rapidly changing environment; master the art of communications and cross-functional collaborations
- Strong attention to detail, and desire to achieve accuracy and precision
- Public company reporting experience an asset
- Healthcare industry and/or Technology business experience an asset
- Strong preference to residents of Canada
