HDCPA Professional Corporation is a fast-growing professional accounting firm, that specializes in assurance and compliance services for reputable clients across North America. We are currently recruiting a Senior Associate to join our team. We're an approved training office with CPA Ontario with a pre-approved assurance program. HDCPA partners with other firms and professionals that share similar values and qualifications and is a member of AMERISERV, a network of independent firms.
Professional team members in this position have at least three years of experience in assurance work with a Canadian public accounting firm. The ideal candidate is a dynamic professional who will provide efficient and reliable accounting, assurance and business support to our clients and can successfully manage and deliver multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and manages multiple engagements and resources to achieve Audit, Review, and Compilation engagement objectives
- Ensures that all planned procedures have been completed following the firm’s policies and procedures, and CAS, as applicable
- Reviews engagement files, financial statements, and appropriate income tax returns
- Performs various analyses and account reconciliations
- Assists with due diligence and field examinations conducted for lenders
- Assists with attestation engagements, agreed-upon procedures engagements, and compliance reviews
- Develops a thorough understanding of the client’s industry and opportunities, including any issues and trends that impact the specific market or sector
- Builds, nurtures and maintains strong working relationships with clients, peers, and team
- Shares and transfers knowledge within the team
- Other related responsibilities and duties to support the firm’s growth and success
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate in accounting,
- Successful completion of Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- 3+ years of experience with assurance and related engagements in a Canadian public accounting environment, preferably including audits of Canadian reporting issuers
- Thorough understanding and previous working experience with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian auditing standards and best practices
- Previous experience with Canadian corporate taxes
- Strong knowledge of Caseware, Caseview
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel (pivot tables, V/H Lookups, etc.) and Word
- Ability to establish and maintain strong client and team relationships
- Strong project management skills and organization
- Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
- Ability to recognize accounting and tax issues and work with the team to resolve any issues that arise
- Strong attention to detail and ability to solve problems
- Ability to perform technical research and reach, evaluate and document conclusions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $65,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
