Barrier Ridge Capital is recruiting for a multi-company group of related businesses in the exterior/site improvement sector of the civil construction industry, operating across Ontario. We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer to help us evolve our business byleading all finance and admin-related functions within the business as well as ongoing mergers and acquisitions of other businesses to expand our operations and to vertically integrate our business.
Reporting to the Executive VP and based out of the Aurora or London, Ontario offices, this individual will lead the accounting and finance teams, serve as a key member of the C-suite team, drive operations to maximize growth and profitability, define and implement business strategies, and provide strong executive leadership. This role will work collaboratively with the Executive VP to build this business and set the tone for organizational leadership, corporate governance, business integrity, and ethics using sound business principles. They will also collaborate with operations, estimating, project management, and merger and acquisition teams to understand and support their respective operational priorities and needs. While onsite work is critical to get to know the businesses and people when first starting, a hybrid arrangement is available.
Business Description
- Over $100 million in revenue across multiple operating companies with the goal of doubling revenues while maintaining or improving profitability over the next three years through a combination of mergers and acquisitions and organic growth.
Vision
- Collaborate with Executive VP to shape business strategy and secure profitable and sustainable growth
- Identify and implement systems and processes to support the business and ensure it is scalable, sustainable, professional and profitable
- Support the EVP in presenting to the BOD along with shareholders
- Financial planning: budgets, forecasts and financial plans
- Oversee the accounting department to ensure financial reporting is timely and accurate
- Tracking and managing cashflow and the capital structure.
- Establish a risk management and compliance framework
- Establish and maintain relationships with investors and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate and drive cohesive business optimization processes, strategies and systems
- Drive KPIs, communication and results orientated processes across the multiple supporting functional areas to effectively understand and anticipate costs and deliver on bid margins
- Implement thorough functional business review with a focus on performance metrics and initiatives
Candidate Qualities
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or MBA required.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in financial management and administration, preferably in the private equity or financial services industry.
- Strong financial acumen with expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and compliance across a large and diverse portfolio of privately held entities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated competence keeping traction across competing priorities and 40+ reporting entities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
