Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented and skilled Human Resources Specialist with 3-5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management and policy development. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. The successful candidate will be a proactive professional who can handle a wide range of HR functions while fostering a positive workplace environment and ensuring compliance with labor laws & company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Manage the end-to-end hiring process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and selection.
- Collaborate with department managers to identify staffing needs and define job requirements.
- Conduct onboarding for new hires, ensuring a seamless integration into the company.
Policy Development and Implementation
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks in line with organizational goals and legal requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews of HR policies to ensure compliance with labor laws and industry standards.
- Provide training and communication to staff on updated policies and procedures.
Employee Relations
- Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and provide guidance on conflict resolution.
- Manage disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans, ensuring fairness and adherence to company policy.
- Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding processes, including preparation of termination documentation.
HR Operations
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the HRIS system.
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics, such as turnover rates and employee satisfaction, and recommend improvements.
- Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant employee information.
Compliance and Legal Support
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Prepare for audits and respond to legal inquiries related to HR matters.
Training and Development
- Assist in designing and implementing employee training programs.
- Support managers in setting performance goals and conducting evaluations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of HR experience, preferably as a generalist.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Proven expertise in recruitment, policy-making, and employee termination processes.
- Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the Transportation Industry would be an asset.
