Human Resources Generalist
Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist at Nordmin Engineering Ltd. is responsible for providing support in various human resources functions, including recruitment, staffing, training and development, employee benefit administration, and employee interaction/liaising. The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional with excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Staffing:
- Assist in sourcing, recruiting, and hiring employees
- Screen applicants, coordinate interviews and develop offers of employment as part of the management team
- Prepare job descriptions, job postings, and promotion and hiring analytics
- Coordinate with company management to ensure timely and effective recruitment processes
- Manage accruals for staff vacation allotments and coordinate the overall vacation schedule.
Employee Relations:
- Provide feedback, clarifications and support to employees on company policies and procedures
- Advise company management and employees on changes to employment law and impact on company policies
- Investigate and resolve employee complaints and grievances
Training and Development:
- Work with department managers to identify and coordinate employee training and development needs
- Plan, organize, and oversee training programs for internal policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with company training policies and procedures
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Assist in developing and implementing changes to the company’s current performance management systems
- Help department managers track employee performance and provide feedback to senior management
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data
HR Administration:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records
- Process employee data, including new hires, terminations, and benefits changes
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Special Projects:
- Assist in developing and implementing HR initiatives and programs
- Conduct research and analysis on HR-related topics
- Provide support for special projects and events, such as employee recognition programs and company-wide initiatives
Requirements:
- A Diploma in Human Resources from a recognized, accredited college or a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in HR, preferably in a generalist role within a professional services organization
- Strong understanding of current employment laws and regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have the ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication. English as a primary language is standard, additional linguistic abilities may be an asset, particularly French and/or Spanish.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to travel internationally – Nordmin has offices in both Canada and the US
- Proficiency in HR software and systems, such as HRIS and payroll systems
- Certification in HR (e.g., CHRP, CPHR, PHRca) preferred, and would be expected to be attained by any hired candidate without professional certification.
Salary Range:
This position is a full-time, on-site salaried position with an extensive benefits package and potential for profit sharing. The salary range is between $75,000 and $98,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Vacation time and paid company shutdowns for Christmas Holidays are part of the overall remuneration package.

The HR Generalist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to achieve HR goals and objectives.
The role may require occasional travel and flexible work arrangements.
