Overview:

We are in search of an experienced accounting technician to work in our office Monday to Friday estimated between 20 & 40 hrs per week, depending on project needs. Flexiblity is open to include shorter workdays, reduced workdays, split shifts, etc. This position must have experience with construction project accounting and will be responsible for the data entry, monitoring and project reporting of our construction projects across Western Canada.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Performs clerical, data entry, reconciliation and reporting support working in programs such as Construction Online, Sage, Excel or Google Sheets.

Processes all accounts payable, and receivables in a timely and accurate manner including posting, ensure proper approvals, coding and GL allocations and work to resolve discrepancies, follow up accordingly.

Provides project teams with & participates in meetings regarding project accounting; budgets, change orders, purchase orders and invoice status.

Ensures compliance and assists with progress payments.

Liaison with Project Managers/Construction Manager.

Maintain accounting records and filing, archiving, etc.

Generate and disperse reports.

Drive to the bank for bank deposits.

Manage the reception area including opening & closing of the office, welcoming guests, answering phone/directing calls, handle/distribute mail and couriers, etc.

Experience, Skillset, Qualifications:

3+ years of relevant experience in project accounting.

Experience with Sage 50 & 100 is required.

Experience with Construct Online would be considered an asset.

Knowledge of accounting principles.

Experience with progress payments and lien rights (for all provinces in Western Canada).

Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft.

General knowledge of construction terminology, and the sequencing.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Valid drivers license.

Must be authorized to work in Canada.

A combination of education and experience that provides the ability to meet the requirements of this position may be considered.
