Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time/freelance, remote basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the firm’s financial transactions with accuracy, ensuring timely reporting and reconciliations. This role requires collaboration with both administrative and legal teams to maintain financial integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Reconcile all corporate credit card purchases and transactions
Complete monthly bank account reconciliations
Process Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Trust account transactions
Maintain and update financial data in accounting and legal software
Ensure adherence to Law Society of Ontario (LSO) regulations regarding trust accounts and general practice
Reconcile and remit corporate taxes, HST, and source deductions
Assist in resolving discrepancies in accounting processes
Support year-end financial balancing and tax preparation

Qualifications:

Completion of formal accounting coursework (college level) or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a legal accounting environment (preferred)
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), QuickBooks Online (QBO), and LEAP software
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize deadlines
Demonstrated ability to use discretion, judgment, and diplomacy in resolving issues
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance

Pay: Up to $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 16 per week
