What are we looking for?

We are searching for an ambitious Accounting Coordinator to join our lean but mighty Finance team. This is a newly created role that will report to our Accounting Specialist. This role is unique since you will have time to work closely with your manager, and then you will take on some of their duties while they are on parental leave, starting in October. Ideally, this role will start in early August and have a two-month training periodbefore the leave.

This role will oversee a variety of initiatives like invoicing, payments, bank deposits and reconciliations, as well as general finance and clerical duties along with day-to-daytroubleshooting. Your primary responsibility will be Accounts Receivable; with a focus on keeping our customer accountscurrent. Our business excels at communication, so you must be comfortable reaching out and speaking to clients and customersby both phone and email. Day to day, you will communicatewith vendors about outstanding items, discrepancies and missing documents. Additionally, your duties will include generating weekly payments, reconciling vendor statements, and credit cards.

You will work with our team to maintain up to date Accounts Payable records across all our systems. Our Finance Team is located at HQ in addition to two remote team members (Virtual Assistants) who you will work with very closely. You will join a highly competent team and be exposed to various senioritiesfrom who you will learn…a lot!

To be successful in this role, you bring:

Exceptional attention to detail. This is your most important quality; you catch errors and discrepancies…better yet, you find them before they become mistakes!
You have sound judgement, you can find discrepancies and catch anything problematic, making sure that work is done correctly (the first time) is essential.
You have strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude; this is a cross-functional role that deals with all our teams, but especially our Solutions (operations team) on a day-to-day basis. Understanding their requirements and delivering against them are key.
You bring 1-2 years of experience and have honed good practices, but you are ready to dive in and take on more responsibility.
Our business is very fast moving, and our team is responsive and readily adapts to new challenges. You are adaptable but a sharp study who can thrive in a culture of change but applies their learnings and experience as we grow.

Bonus Points:

You have used some previous accounting software and understand the functionality of this type of tool.
You are an ideal candidate if you have some freight experience and can readily apply your knowledge to our business!
