Role Overview:

BMD Transportation has been providing quality shipping services for over 35 years. We specialize in open deck and over dimensional freight.

We are seeking a Bookkeeper with a positive attitude, team approach and a strong attention to detail to join our team.

Key Accountabilities

Enter payables into the system accurately and in a timely manner
Track invoices and ensure timely payments
Generate income statements
Issue cheques for payments and maintain accurate records
Analyze income and expenses, providing recommendations to the President
Allocate income to appropriate accounts
File and maintain financial documents in an organized manner
Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy
Communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders as needed
Maintain payroll records, including tracking hours, vacation time/pay, sick days, and other relevant details
Manage payroll-related taxes and insurance (WSIB)
Stay updated on relevant tax rebates and incentives
Manage office operations including ordering supplies and managing vendors
All other duties as assigned by the President

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar role.
Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Possess excellent bookkeeping skills including payroll, financial analysis, and reporting
Proficiency in using documentation tools and software such as Google Docs and Microsoft Office and the ability and interest to leverage technology to improve efficiency
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Pro-active problem solver who enjoys looking for ways to improve/streamline processes
Degree/certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business, or a related field preferred but not required
Desire to learn and grow within the company
Professional verbal and written communication (English)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
