The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team at our facility in St. Bonafice, MB. The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to the organization. This role involves processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices, managing expense reports, and ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Receive and review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
Enter invoices into the accounting system accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure proper coding of invoices to the correct expense accounts and cost centers.
Maintain and update vendor files, including contact information and payment terms.
Communicate with vendors regarding invoice discrepancies, payment status, and other inquiries.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
Issue checks, ensuring all payments are signed and mailed in a timely manner.
Schedule and prepare batch payments in accordance with company policies.
Review and process employee expense reports for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Verify receipts and ensure proper coding and approval of expenses.
Reconcile accounts payable transactions and ensure accurate and timely month-end closing.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports as needed.
Maintain accounts payable files and records in accordance with company policy and accounting practices.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as federal and state regulations.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk or in a similar role.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and processing.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
